Leading Provider of Consumable Films and Foils: Excel is a leading manufacturer of microplate sealing films and foils used by life science research, university, and testing laboratories as well as biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, and diagnostic providers. The Company’s products are used to protect testing samples from evaporation, cross-contamination, spillage, and other damaging events during the testing and storage process.
Deal Execution: In search of a partner to help drive future growth, the owner of Excel engaged RA Capital to explore strategic alternatives. Despite unprecedented circumstances faced by Excel due to the global pandemic, RA Capital led a highly confidential process that resulted in Vance Street’s acquisition of Excel.
Mutually Beneficial Result: 28 years after starting the business from a spare bedroom in her home, founder Bambi Lyn Cahilly realized an attractive exit for her business. Vance Street acquired a best-of-class, consumables focused platform in life sciences.
